Friday's Fancies #7

Another link up to Long Distance Lovings Friday's Fancies! I'm in love with this dress, so subtle and very elegant and I think the bold Swarovski ring compliments it rather nicely.

Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookies...

I cooked this recipe at Christmas and it was just Deeeeeelicious!!! The best pudding I've ever made. However, I didn't have any small ramekins, so I made it in a giant ramekin and piled ice cream in the middle and everyone ate out of it together, it was so yummy and very indulgent! 

Ingredients for 4

200g butter, softened

200g light brown sugar, packed

1 large egg

1 tsp vanilla extract

200g plain flour

1 tsp baking soda

120g good-quality milk chocolate chips

Vanilla ice cream, to serve

The Method

Pre-heat the oven to 260°C/Gas Mark 9.

In a mixing bowl, using a electric hand mixer, cream the butter and brown sugar until it is light and pale. Add in the egg and vanilla extract and beat through.

Add in the flour and baking soda, little by little, until you have a stiff dough. Using a spatula, stir through the chocolate chips until evenly combined.

Divide the cookie dough among four large six-inch ramekins and place in the oven on a baking sheet. Bake for seven to 10 minutes but keep an eye on them, you want them to puff up and become golden brown around the sides and just about set in the middle.

Remove them from the oven and serve straight away with a dollop of vanilla ice cream on top, and enjoy!

Inspirational Chest of Drawers...

The other day I found this beautiful image on Pinterest, and I've been looking at my very uninspiring chest of drawers and have decided that this summer once I've finished all my exams I'm going to recreate this design. What do you think? I'll let you know on how things turn out :)

My Tree House...

The front of the house, I sewed pink mini gingham curtains and added a gold bell to the front.

Climbing up...

This is the Tree House that I made for my GCSE Art exam. We had 10 hours over a period of 2 days to make our final design. We got given lots of questions, from Marin Life to Self Image. I however chose the Contrast question, and over several weeks we had to fill up a whole sketchbook on research of artists, techniques, designs and loadsssss more. I really enjoyed doing every minute of it, and was very sad to give in my book. 

The question that I choose was: 

You should make connections with appropriate selected sources when developing your personal response to one of the following suggestions.

·      You could consider contrasts between interiors and exteriors.

Contrast Definition

The state of being strikingly different from something else, typically something in juxtaposition or close association.

When I had decided on the question, I instantly thought ARCHITECTURE, especially as I have a great passion for beautifully constructed buildings. I thought maybe I could actually construct a two-storey house, with contrasting colours on the interior and exterior, but I thought that would would be far too difficult in the small time period that we had in the exam. So, I carried on thinking and as I have always wanted and loved tree houses, I came to the decision of making my very own miniature one. 

The Tree is made from an actual branch from my garden and covered in layers of mod roc, with a few more branches added here and there. I then painted on black acrylic to contrast with the pretty Pink house. The house was made out of foam board, which is a fantastic material, I recommend it! I decorated the interior and the exterior of the house. However, my camera isn't that good so I couldn't take any pictures of the inside :(

The contrast in my tree house is the old, dead, scary looking tree with the pretty, pink, whimsical cottage on top.   

I was really inspired by Cinderella Moments to make my Tree house, Caroline makes Beautiful miniature houses and thanks to this project I found her blog, please have a look at what she does, as you'll be blown away!

“All things can be made beautiful!”

Handmade Stargazer Lily

Tomorrow all my Art coursework has to be handed in, so this weekend I've been VERY busy perfecting my book. I also made this Stargazer Lily for my portfolio. The petals are made from powder pink glazed cotton, with glass beads sewn on. For the stamens I also used glass beads on wire. I love pink and green together, the two seem to set one another off. I hope you like it, its the first one I've ever made!
