Christmas Cabin ♥

It is my dream, that at some point in my life, I will live in a cabin. A cabin in the woods, within the mountains, somewhere far away. But not for too long, just to experience it. Somewhere where I can be creative all day, whilst living amongst nature. And after illustrating all my bath town houses, which you can see >here< I wanted to draw something quite different, and its Christmas! So, of course a Christmas cabin was in order! I hope you like it. I made it into a card, for a special friend. So not only the exterior, but with an interior too. I loved illustrating it so much, thinking about what to put in each room, and as I draw I think of little stories in my head, I imagine living here...

Merry Christmas! I hope you have a truly lovely day, lots of love Flora x

Great Bear Rainforest

I don't think I've shown you these illustrations, but i did them quite a few months ago for a project at college. I did them in responce to an amazing video I watched on the Great Bear Rainforest, on the western coast of Canada. The films explores two surfers journey as they discover the forest and the environmental problems facing it.... you HAVE to watch the film, it really is breathtaking, and so inspiring! I really want to go to the great bear rainforest!! So, watch the video, and then you'll be able to appreciate my illustrations!

My brother Harry, is also going to Vancouver in 2 weeks, to do a 6 week work experience with the company that produced the film, Sitka. I hope he has an amazing time, which I'm sure he will! Oh I'd love to go with him.... maybe soon :)

Explore the Unknown...

For graphics illustration week at college i made a little book to paint my travels and adventures into... You may notice that i used the girl for my header too. To create this I painted a girl in watercolour and on another piece of paper I painted a some leaves. Then using photoshop I merged them together altering the layer blends and adding text. I then printed onto really nice brown card (LOVE brown card), and cut up some watercolour paper to be bound inside the book. I've filled it with fantasy landscapes... but my idea was that one would use it as a personal scrapbook, painting and placing photographs of all the unknown places they'd explored...

Let me know if you'd like me to make you one!

Birthday Cake for Daisy...

watercolour, glitter and ric rac birthday cake

daisy and milly's birthday cake paintings
Do you remember the post I did a few weeks ago, on a painting I did for Little Milly's Birthday? Well, this is another painting I did for her elder sister Daisy, my sisters best friend. I wanted to make the cakes appear quite different but keep in the same style, so I added strawberries and berries and flowers to the top, and to add a bit of dimension to the painting I put ric rac, in the place of cream! I'm really pleased with the outcome and I think Daisy was too! As soon as I get a free weekend I will do some to put up on Etsy!!

Summer Project: Postcards

I am feeling so nervous as I start college on Friday! I'm doing the Art and Design extended diploma which is just a fancy name for a BTEC, and is equivalent to 3 A levels. I had a summer project to do, which was to produce 5 postcards all saying "Hello" and somehow has to show my identity. Here is what I've come up with...
My first, is the Flora by Gucci perfume, which I have, and I've written on it "Flora says Hello". The Second is off a Diana F+ with Hello written in various different languages. As you can see with the third I've painted my floral spots then cut out hello using a craft knife then stuck them to each other. My fourth is of course a tea party, (tea and cake are a very big part of my life ;) ! The fifth I've drawn me (but my head turned out really big :/ ) and have written "Hello Hello Hello..." again and again. And my last is a watercolour silhouette.

I have to send one by Friday in the post, so which one is it going to be?? I have no idea, so please tell me which is your favourite and I'll post that one... my future is in your hands!

Floral Teapot

Introducing my latest item in my Etsy shop...

It does sometimes get a bit boring painting on a square canvas, so when I came across these teapot shapes I got very excited! You can find this in my Etsy shop HERE, at the very reasonable prize of £12.00, as this is an original Flora Fricker ;) I also have a Floral cake under way at the minute so watch this space...

Please tell me what you think, your comments mean a lot :)

Little MiIly's Birthday

Today is a very special day as its Little Milly's 4th birthday! Milly is my sister Alice's best friends sister and a great little friend of mine too :) A few weeks ago Milly declared that she wanted me to paint her a picture of a cake, but not any old cake it HAD to consist of "lots of pink, and lots and lots of glitter with four candals... please" And this is what it ended as...

Tea Cups for Georgia...

Yesterday it was my best friend, Georgia's 16th Birthday! So, I painted this especially for her. It goes very well in her pretty little bedroom, where another one of my paintings is hanging on the wall! Georgia is a very special friend and I love her to bits, and it was very important to me to make her an extra special painting as I hope when she looks at it, it will remind her of all the fabulous times we've had together over the last 5 years! Happy birthday Georgia!!

A little treat...

After featuring Sascalia last week I decided to buy some of her prints! And let me tell you they are even more magical in person! I bought the three below, the "Whimsical Birds" and the "Scarlet Fairy" for me and the "Dream Mermaid" for my little sister Alice. I think I might start collecting them, as they are just so lovely!!

My Summer Bucket List...

Today I have decided to join Cornflake Dreams in making my very own "Bucket List"

This is just a shortened list of what I'm planning to do this very long summer (9 weeks!!!) I can't wait to start doing lots of art again, as I've had a very long break doing boring revision, and also I really want to make some colourful cushions like these ones from Huset, so lovely!

What are your plans for the summer?

Red Riding Hood!

Last night I went to the cinema with my Friend Clare, to see Red Riding Hood. Which was FANTASTIC!!! It's directed my Catherine Hardwick (Twilight) so of course it was brilliant :) I definitely recommend you to see it.

The film reminded me of a painting which I did a few months ago for my Art book at school - Red Riding Hood and the BIG bad Wolf!
