Birthday Cake for Daisy...

watercolour, glitter and ric rac birthday cake

daisy and milly's birthday cake paintings
Do you remember the post I did a few weeks ago, on a painting I did for Little Milly's Birthday? Well, this is another painting I did for her elder sister Daisy, my sisters best friend. I wanted to make the cakes appear quite different but keep in the same style, so I added strawberries and berries and flowers to the top, and to add a bit of dimension to the painting I put ric rac, in the place of cream! I'm really pleased with the outcome and I think Daisy was too! As soon as I get a free weekend I will do some to put up on Etsy!!

Feature: Sinny from One Sunny Afternoon

Introducing Sinny, shop owner and very talented jewellery designer/maker of One Sunny Afternoon. I absolutely love her style, pretty, feminine, fun and whimsical. For my birthday my Mum bought me the Small glass cabochon floral necklace, which I adore and I have worn it everyday! I desperately want one of her glass raindrop pendants too!

Summer Project: Postcards

I am feeling so nervous as I start college on Friday! I'm doing the Art and Design extended diploma which is just a fancy name for a BTEC, and is equivalent to 3 A levels. I had a summer project to do, which was to produce 5 postcards all saying "Hello" and somehow has to show my identity. Here is what I've come up with...
My first, is the Flora by Gucci perfume, which I have, and I've written on it "Flora says Hello". The Second is off a Diana F+ with Hello written in various different languages. As you can see with the third I've painted my floral spots then cut out hello using a craft knife then stuck them to each other. My fourth is of course a tea party, (tea and cake are a very big part of my life ;) ! The fifth I've drawn me (but my head turned out really big :/ ) and have written "Hello Hello Hello..." again and again. And my last is a watercolour silhouette.

I have to send one by Friday in the post, so which one is it going to be?? I have no idea, so please tell me which is your favourite and I'll post that one... my future is in your hands!

Floral Teapot

Introducing my latest item in my Etsy shop...

It does sometimes get a bit boring painting on a square canvas, so when I came across these teapot shapes I got very excited! You can find this in my Etsy shop HERE, at the very reasonable prize of £12.00, as this is an original Flora Fricker ;) I also have a Floral cake under way at the minute so watch this space...

Please tell me what you think, your comments mean a lot :)

Friday's Fancies #20

dress ~ blazer ~ heels ~ ring ~ eearings ~ sunglasses

I've been wanting to do a Fridays fancie, inspired by this photograph for so long, and now I finally have... the image conveys such glamour and sexiness so I had to find the perfect ensemble. I came across a beaded tulle and lace dress by Diane Von Furstenburg, which i absolutely adore. and then is searched everywhere looking for a blazer with peaked shoulders, unfortunately I couldn't find one, but I got a normal blazer from Zara with zip pockets to add an edgy look. Paired this with of course Jimmys Choo's and disc drop earring's, a chunky ring, and wayfarers like in the picture.

This is my 20th link up to {AV} at Long distance loving and so if you like what you see please "Like" it here!

Bristol Balloon Fiesta

last Saturday, my family and I went to Bristol to see the hot air balloons. It was very exciting seeing all 100 balloons being let off into the sky. Each balloon was different, as you can see although most were covered in advertisements, it was still a spectacular sight!

I'd love to go up in a hot air balloon, have you??

Picture of the week: 1956 Coffee Talk

source
50's fashion was without a doubt the height of glamour and elegance. Imagine living in that era and wearing these beautiful dresses, long white gloves, and ruby red lipstick whilst gossiping other coffee. These hues of pink and blue also suggest much poise and femininity, if only...

What's your favourite era,and why???

Little MiIly's Birthday

Today is a very special day as its Little Milly's 4th birthday! Milly is my sister Alice's best friends sister and a great little friend of mine too :) A few weeks ago Milly declared that she wanted me to paint her a picture of a cake, but not any old cake it HAD to consist of "lots of pink, and lots and lots of glitter with four candals... please" And this is what it ended as...

My Birthday ♥

opening presents with alice
I looked for weeks all over Etsy searching for the perfect piece of jewellery for my birthday. And finally i came across a beautiful shop called One Sunny Afternoon, where this little tiny floral glass pendant was waiting for me! I love it so much as its so dainty and very whimsical

i made seating places by cutting a card heart, decorating it and sliding it into the fork.
i made cake bunting to put on my cake :)
chocolate sponge with strawberries and cream and chocolate drizzled over the top :P
In the evening my friends came over and we had a delicious meal cooked by my Mum, followed by a fashion show which I shot with my new camera I bought last week (fujifilm finepix S2950). We also watched Letters to Juliet, which was good but incredibly cringy! And then they slept over and we all talked for way too long :)

I had a really lovely 16th birthday and thank you to everyone who made it special!

Friday's Fancies #17

My 17th link up to Long Distance Loving's Friday's Fancies. What can I say, this weeks theme was: the Maxi Dress. So, I instantly thought of this beautiful ice blue chiffon dress by Elie Saab. The bodice is "adorned with chiffon and fox fur strips," and a "velvet belt with a brooch." I hunted around net-a-porter for accessories which would compliment the dress, I found a crystal-embellished silk-satin clutch by Gucci and a pair of blue topaz 18 karat gold earings by Ippolita. For shoes the first place I looked was Jimmy Choo, and came away with a delicate pair of strappy sandals

This is definitely my favourite Friday's fancies I've done, so far! If you like this weeks Friday's Fancies please "like it" at Long Distance Loving...

What are your thoughts, I'd love to know!

On of my Summer Bucket List, one of my plans was too read more. Within one month I've read 4 books, which I'm really pleased with, as I'm quite a slow reader, but I do read from 11:00pm - 1:00pm, (hence the dark lines under my eyes).

I really do enjoy a good book, and my latest that I've finished is Body Surfing by Anita Shreve. It was brilliant!!! The story was set in New Hampshire, which sounds utterly beautiful. And so, its now on my list of places to go. I don't want to ruin the story for you, but in the last chapters the main character visits a beach house situated on one of the tiny islands sprinkled around the cost of New Hampshire. You'd only be able to visit the houses either by boat or walking across on low tide. I don't think I'd mind the solitude of being in a little cottage on a tiny island, I can actually picture myself painting on an easel on the porch, whilst looking out to sea...only for the summer season though. Here are a few images of New Hampshire....

Crochet ♥

Today my Mum has been teaching me how to Crochet, and now I am totally hooked! I had to tear myself away from the crochet hook and the wool so that I could write this post. Mine didn't look anything like these beautiful crochet examples, but with a lot more practise, and time they soon might ! Here are a few Etsy favourites...
